Well, we made it safe and sound to Fabulous Las Vegas after a bit of a hiccup in our flight plans yesterday. Our initial iternerary had us leaving Baltimore Washington International airport at 3:30 on Wednesday, connecting in Houston a few hours later, and then heading out to Nevada from there. Things didn't work out quite so smoothly, but God took care of us and made a straight path for us in a different way. Plus, we have a more interesting story to tell now!
First of all, when we got to the security line at BWI, Jen and I were selected for additional screening because our tickets were one way. At first I was a little peeved about the extra security check through our luggage and pat-down by the friendly TSA staff in Baltimore, but Jen shared some soothing words that reminded me about the importance and blessedness of this particular trip, so the security screening became not a nuisance, but a new story in our journey. After we got through security we made our way to the gate. Everything was flowing smoothly, we were on time, we boarded the plane a few minutes early, and we waited for departure. After about a half hour or so, the pilot gets on the intercom and says that they are working on a mechanical problem and we will be held up for a few minutes. After a few minutes, the pilot gets back on the speaker and lets everyone know that there is a problem with the brake on the main gear and it will take at least an hour and a half to fix! The layover time for our connectin in Houstion was only one hour, so if we had to wait for the repair we were definitely going to miss our connection. After some deliberation and guidance from the crew, Jen went to the agents and we were able to get another flight to Las Vegas and some meal vouchers, and we were only delayed by about 2 hours. So, we got to Vegas later than we had planned, but God worked everything out beautifully...a good flight and some free food!
