Catching Up

I feel like this past month has been a whirlwind as evidenced by my blogging ( or lack thereof). We moved out of our house in Virginia, had our belongings put in storage and moved in with my parents in Baltimore. Our house was supposed to close at the end of July and we finally closed and handed over the keys on in late August. We closed on our house in Baltimore the next day. Josh and I came over and began painting the whole house before having all of the hardwood floors redone. We were finally able to move in on September 9th. And ever since then we have been unpacking and organizing everything in our new house ( which is not an easy task with 2 little ones running around). We are so thankful to have my parents closeby to help. I truly do not know how people move when they have small children and no one around to help! And I have already told Josh that I don't think I ever want to move again. If we want a bigger house we have plenty of room to add on to this one! I really do not like moving. But it is done and I am slowly beginning to feel settled in our new home.

From the last time I posted on this blog until now a lot has gone on for our girls too. Karis has been walking ( as in practically running) since 2 weeks after her first birthday. She started taking a few steps right on her birthday and 2 weeks later she was a full fledged walker! She seems to be growing up so fast! She is into everything and she loves to climb. Raegan was never a climber so this is new to me. Childproofing for Karis has taken on a whole new definition. She always keeps us on our toes and we wouldn't trade that for anything! Big sister Raegan has started playing soccer at our local YMCA. She really enjoys going and learning how to play. She has already decided that next she wants to try ballet. It will be interesting to see what she ends up being interested in. She also started school last week which she loves. Everyday she tells me about the boys in her class who cry because they miss their mommy's but that she doesn't miss me. I am not sure how I feel about this! I am glad she enjoys school so much and I hope that she always does! She is very social so I think school is good for her. We have been having some trouble with her behavior so I am hoping that her getting to go to school will help with that as well. Or maybe we just have to wait until she is not a 3 year old anymore, haha.

Josh is enjoying his new short commute to work and is also enjoying his new position with his company. And I am enjoying having him home more since he isn't stuck in a car quite as long anymore.

So we are all doing well and I will do my best to get back on track with our blog! I will do some separate posts to get caught up on pictures, stats, etc.

First Day of School ( pictures)

Our big girl so excited to start school!
"Here Raegan, I got Mom's keys, I'll drive you!"

As I am still working on getting caught up on blogging I am going to go back and post pictures and updates that I never got a chance to post. This post is Raegan's " back to school" post. Raegan started preschool here in the middle of September. I thought she might question why she wasn't going to her old school but she didn't. We had orientation one day and she wanted to know why I had to stay. The first day of school she let me snap a few pictures and she was ready to go. It was raining outside so unfortunately we had to stick to indoor pictures but that's ok. I dropped her off in the carpool line and off she went. She loves school and every day she comes out with a smile on her face. I hope she always loves school the way she does now ( however I am sure there will come a day when school won't be fun anymore for her). She seems really confident and has no problems leaving me and I think that's a good thing. I am looking forward to seeing her learn and grow in her new school this year!

Oh Pooh

We are staying with my parents until our new house is ready to move in. My parents are wonderful but having 2 young kids at someone else's house for an extended period of time is stressful. On top of that we were hit with a hurriancane last weekend which knocked out power for almost a week. Today to commerate the 6th day of our power outage, Karis decided to make my life a little more intersesting. I put her down for a morning nap but she was fighting it. I let her stay in there to see if she was going to go to sleep and eventually she got quiet so I thought she had gone to sleep. About 30 minutes later I heard her talking and playing so I knew she was done with her "nap" so I went in to get her. When I opened the door I saw that she had something all over her face. It looked like she had smeared baby food all over her face and my first thought was how did she get into baby food in her bed? Then it hit me. It was not baby food. It was pooh. Karis had taken her pooh filled diaper off and was playing in it. I have heard of these types of things happening to other people but Raegan had never done anything like this. Well today it was my turn. So in the midst of a week long power outage I now had a pooh covered daughter. I couldn't do much other than laugh. I wanted to take a picture but no one else wanted to hold her so into the tub she went. I have to say she was the cutest pooh covered baby I have ever seen. How could I get mad at her childlike innocence when she had no idea she did anything wrong. I just hope she doesn't decide to do this again! And I may not have a picture to document it but I don't think this day will be erased from my memory anytime soon.
