Fun In The Sun

Josh and I were blessed to have been able to take a vacation a couple of weeks ago. We usually go the beach every year for vacation but this year with baby #2 due to make her appearance in early August we knew that a beach trip wasn't going to happen. So we decided to go on a spring vacation away somewhere tropical. We know Raegan wouldn't mind us leaving because she loves when she gets to stay with Grandma and Pop Pop and my mom and dad are always willing to watch Raegan for us ( and Kona too). Josh and I never do anything like this. Even for our honeymoon we kept it very low key and went to Colorado. I think we went out to dinner once while we were there. So this was a big step for us but we both thought the timing was perfect. We know it will be a long time before we get to do something like this again. So we bit the bullet and bought our tickets/reservations for an all inclusive resort in Cancun. We left last friday morning very early in the morning. I was a bit teary eyed walking out the door because Raegan was still asleep so I didn't even get to say good bye to her in the morning. But once we got to the airport and on our flights I felt better about leaving her. I knew she would be in good hands but she is just so much fun that it's hard to be away from her. On our flight into Cancun they showed the movie Blindside so I enjoyed that. Towards the end of the flight the lady sitting next to Josh started talking to him and it turns out that she is the CEO/Owner of Tastefully Simple, which is a very successful home party buisness so that was kind of neat. It was almost like we were sitting next to someone famous! When we arrived in Cancun the weather was very rainy and gloomy. We were a little bummed but we didn't arrive until the afternoon anyway so we basically just wanted to get settled in. The weather report called for rain the whole time we were there but much to our delight the next morning we woke to the sun shining through our window. The weather ended up being beautiful for the 4 days we were there. We had a nice time of relaxing, reading by the pool, looking out at the beautiful blue ocean and just enjoying some quality time together. We did a little bit of shopping at some flea markets which was fun too. The resort was all inclusive so I enjoyed a break from planning and cooking meals for a few days. They had a couple of reservation only restaurants that were really nice so we enjoyed getting dressed up and going on dinner dates for 3 of the 4 nights. Of course by the end of our time there we couldn't wait to get home to see Raegan but it was really nice to get away just the two of us. Raegan had a great time with Grandma and Pop Pop too. They took her to a train museum which she loved. And when we got home she said she wanted to go back to our house but she cried when she realized that Grandma and Pop Pop weren't coming with us. We are so thankful that she has such a great relationship with her grandparents. We all had a great mini spring vacation and now we are looking forward to welcoming our newest family member this summer!
